Grading notes for Pokémon
Centering is the #1 PSA 10 killer for Pokémon — especially WOTC-era Charizards and modern full-art trainers. CGC 10 Pristine and BGS 10 Black Label both trade at premiums over PSA 10 for select modern cards (particularly Umbreon VMAX Alt Art), so we surface all three grades on every card page. Grading math is unchanged: raw + $25 grading + 13% sale fee vs. the PSA 10 comp.

What Pokémon cards are worth grading right now?
Modern alt arts (Umbreon VMAX, Rayquaza VMAX, Giratina V) and Scarlet & Violet 151 special illustration rares consistently show the widest raw-to-PSA-10 spreads. Vintage WOTC holos are worth grading only if centering and surface look clean — the PSA 10 rate is under 5% for most Base Set cards.
Is PSA or CGC better for Pokémon cards?
PSA still commands the highest resale premium for vintage. CGC has closed the gap on modern — CGC 10 Pristine Umbreon VMAX Alt Art often trades within 10% of PSA 10, and CGC turnaround is faster. Gem Gains shows both comps so you can pick.
How much does a PSA 10 Charizard cost?
PSA 10 Charizard prices range from ~$300 for unlimited Base Set holos to six figures for 1st Edition Shadowless. Modern PSA 10 Charizards (Champion's Path, 151) trade $150–$800 depending on print run and demand.
Can I grade Pokémon cards with PSA if they're old?
Yes — PSA grades any Pokémon card regardless of age. Vintage submissions (pre-2004) usually cost more per card than modern service tiers. Factor grading cost + fees into your ROI math on every card page.
